Civil Engineering Lab Facilities

 

Since the beginning of CE department in March 2016, BAIUST has realized the importance of in-house laboratories, thus priority was given to develop the necessary facilities as required. BAIUST laboratory facilities are developing gradually with the growth of the department. To establish well-equipped in-house laboratories in all branches of Civil Engineering is the main goal of CE department. The department has already established several laboratories including Solid Mechanics Lab, Engineering Materials Lab, Fluid Mechanics Lab, AutoCAD Lab, Practical Surveying Lab, Environmental Engineering Lab and Engineering Drawing Lab for the students of CE department. Establishment of Water Resources Engineering Lab, Geotechnical Engineering Lab, Transportation Engineering Lab and the extension of existing Solid Mechanics Lab will be completed within November 2018.

 

SOLID MECHANICS LABORATORY

The Solid Mechanics Laboratory (commonly known as the SM lab) was established in Spring 2017. The lab is used for the purposes of teaching, research and testing of materials by the faculty members and students of CE department. The experiments performed in this lab are based on concepts learned in theoretical courses on Solid Mechanics-I.

FLUID MECHANICS LABORATORY

Operating since Fall 2017, the Fluid Mechanics lab offers adequate experiments on Fluid Mechanics to 2nd-year students. The lab is equipped with adequate facilities to offer experiments on Fluid Mechanics. This laboratory is extensible for UG teaching and research purposes.

ENGINEERING MATERIALS LABORATORY

From the beginning, the CE department has been offering courses on Engineering Materials Sessional to 12nd-year students. Engineering Materials Lab provides the facilities for determining the strength of various concrete specimens as well as it gives adequate scope to test various properties of cement. The lab is also equipped with adequate curing facilities for the concrete specimens.
